EPA ACTION CALL-PLEASE Write OMB TODAY!

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) continues to push for over-reaching regulation.  It threatens American business and costs American jobs. Industry by industry, the EPA is racing the clock to impose over-the-top regulations. This time, without first completing its reassessment of the health impact of dioxin on human beings, EPA has proposed overly strict new standards for cleaning up dioxin in soil.

Soil represents only 1% of human exposure to dioxin and that exposure has dropped more than 90% over the last 20 years, bringing the background levels in the U.S. to well within the regulatory standards used by the European Union, the World Health Organization, and other governments.

We need the EPA to refrain from setting new PRGs in September as planned. These new standards must be based on clear indisputable evidence that there is in fact a need to tighten standards based upon real health issues. The EPA has sent the new regulations to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to advance the implementation date on or about September 20th.

Please contact Jeffrey D.  Zients, Director (Acting) OMB and urge the OMB to halt issue of these new regulations until such time as clear, compelling scientific evidence proves they are needed.
